He had been siting under that gnarled, old tree, enjoying its refreshing shade, for hours.
Just thinking.
Pondering the universe.
Then it happened.
A thud heard around the world.
A monumental plop in history.
Who discovered gravity?
Issac Newton, right?
Well, not exactly.
People already knew heavy stuff could fall and bonk you on the head while you were sitting under an apple tree.
Newton’s genius was finding an explanation for what heaviness (“gravitas”) was.
Even more importantly
Newton gave gravity a brand.
With the help of an apple and a story and a name, he made it real.
And by making gravity real, he gave us power over the concept. The power to imagine, relate, describe, discuss and accept.
If you want to transform your future, your purpose and your organization, be like Issac Newton.
Try storytelling
Realize that purpose-driven brands overturn conventions, create new understanding, change people and disrupt the status quo only when you make them real.
And that you make them real through storyteliing, examples and experiences.
Not through mere messages.
And while you’re at it, remember that the changing future, as always, belongs to the brave.
Be brave
But that’s just my opinion. What’s yours?
